Keeping Fit
Sports and exercise have an important role to play in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and in order to promote and encourage the health and wellbeing of our students and staff; Aberdeen College provide excellent fitness and gym facilities.
There are Fitness Suites in all centres which are available to all staff and students at lunchtimes, evenings and at times when they are not being used by our sports students for their studies.
Using the facilities
The Fitness Suites are free of charge but all first-time users must attend an induction session which you can book onto by emailing fitness.suite@abcol.ac.uk.
Using the gym hall
The following indoor sports can be played in the gym hall area at the Gallowgate:
- Five-a-side Football
- Basketball
- Badminton
- Volleyball
- Unihock
- Yoga
- Aerobics
- Martial Arts
Students who wish to use the gym hall area for any sports are required to organise the activity through sport@abcol.ac.uk.
Fitness Classes
As part of Live for Life Aberdeen College staff and students can take part in the following free fitness classes:
Body Conditioning
An aerobic warm up followed by conditioning exercised for the whole body, designed to work all major muscle groups and target those key areas.

Zumba™
Party yourself into shape with Zumba - the Latin inspired, easy to follow, calorie burning dance fitness party. Feel the music and let loose!
Tuesdays 5.15pm-6.15pm
Games Hall on the 7th floor at the Gallowgate Centre.
Body Blast
Set to energising music, Body Blast is a group strength training workout utilising plates and bars that’s designed to shape and tone your body.
Wednesdays 5.15pm – 6.15pm
Games Hall on 7th floor at the Gallowgate Centre
Step
A cardiovascular workout combining low, high and mixed impact moves on a step platform. A calorie burning workout concentrating on the lower body.
