How many things can I borrow at the same time?
You can borrow up to 5 items at a time.
How long can I keep the items I have borrowed?
Most items can be borrowed for 4 weeks but there are some that are a week loan or day loan. Library staff will tell you when you borrow the item.
Can I borrow magazines?
You can borrow the back copies for a week. So that everyone gets a chance to see them the current copies can only be read in the Library.
Do I need a Library Card?
You need a card to borrow anything. Just ask at the desk the first time you want to borrow something, it only takes a couple of minutes.
Can I plug in my laptop in the Library?
Yes if it is less than 3 years old or has been PAT tested by a qualified electrician. However you must not leave your laptop unattended.
Is there anywhere I can leave my laptop to charge?
Gallowgate Library+ has a lockable laptop charging cabinet - see the laptop charging page.
Do you sell pens?
Yes we sell pens, pencils, blank CDS and USB Data Pens
How can I photocopy something?
The printers are photocopiers too so you will need some money in your print account. Log on to the printer photocopiers using the touch screen and the select the copy button of if you prefer ask Library staff to help.
How do I find the e-books?
Go to the Library catalogue and use the e-books search from the left hand menu.
Are you open in the holidays?
Please check Blackboard for details. Generally Gallowgate Library+ are open in the holidays but Altens and Clinterty are closed.
