IT Centre Layout
The IT Centre consists of 4 areas:
Main Teaching Zone
The main ‘body’ of the IT Centre. Desk groups in this area are timetabled in the same way as classrooms, and classes take priority.
PCs may be used flexibly, but you may be asked to move if it is time for a class to start in the desk where you’re working.
Flexi-Use Area
Situated on the left as you enter the centre, the 53 PCs in this section are for individual use and are never used for classes.
Self-Study Zone
The north-west part of the IT Centre is the Self-Study Zone. Partly screened from the rest of the IT Centre, this is an area for individual or group study, with a variety of furniture options, and plenty of sockets to plug your laptop in.
Mac Section
Subdivided into two smaller sections (left and right), the Apple Macs are situated at the south end of the IT Centre (on the right as you come in) and comprises of 48 Macs – these arealso timetabled in the same way as a classroom, but there are no flexible use Macs. If you wish to use a Mac while there is a class in progress, please check with the lecturer in charge of the class to see if it is ok.
